Chapter 15

It was still very early in the morning. Neither of the two suns was up yet, but even so, there was already a soft light shining above the gym in South Banks Paca. Although you would not be able to tell if you passed by since the curtains were closed.

Two women were sitting in the room, discussing their problem. Well, one was sitting, but the blue-haired girl was pacing back and forth.

“You didn’t see anything?” Reina asked, exasperated.

“Nothing,” Bells reported. “I watched the house all night.”

“Well, it would be pretty stupid to attack him again right away,” Reina said.

“Where’s Aria?”

“My father is being an asshole again. He wouldn’t let me see her.”

“This is an emergency,” Bells argued.

“Yes, I told him that. He doesn’t care. Aria doesn’t want to see me.”

“Damnit. And Dahlia?”

“Still busy trying to get the file from RIA.”

“Hm,” Bells said. “So what do we do now?”

“There’s not much we can do,” Reina said. “We keep an eye on Dan and keep trying to find that demon. Maybe Dahlia will have learned more.”

“I hate this.”

“I know. But we have no choice. Can you make sure Dan’s getting to school safely this morning?”

Bells chewed her lip. “Fine.”

She didn’t move however.

“Now please.”

“Now? Come on, we still have some time,” she argued.

“We don’t know what hour he gets up.”

“But-”

“Bells,” Reina said. “It’s just for a little while. Once the demon is dead, we’ll be back to our boring old lives.”

“Why do you care so much about him?”

“We’ll get blamed if he dies,” Reina argued.

“We’re not responsible for every-”

“Bells. He’s the son of Linda Anguira-Marlow. You don’t want to mess with her. If we can get her on our side.”

“She’ll never do that. She’s big buddies with Kevin.”

“If we save her son again, she might change her mind. Keep an eye on him please.”

“Ugh. Fine,” Isabella sighed. “But I’m certain he’s still asleep.”

She was wrong though. Dan was already awake, eating his muesli. Well, more like watching them turn to mush. He wasn’t very hungry today. He didn’t sleep well. Tossing and turning all night. And when he slept, he had nightmares of that Monstergirl. Or he saw the dead blue-haired chick in her bloody white dress. Dan had decided to name her Aria. I mean, he couldn’t keep calling her ‘dead park girl’, right?

“Danny?” his mom asked. “Are you okay?”

Linda Anguira-Marlow was sitting on the other side of the kitchen table, eating her oatmeal. Contrary to her son, she was already fully dressed (black pantsuit) and her hair was tied up in a bun.

Dan on the other hand was still wearing his shorts and oversized sleepshirt. His hair was a total mess.

“Sure,” Dan said. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

“You’re up very early. You’re barely eating. What happened? Is it a girl?”

Huh. Actually, it was. All his problems were related to girls. Monstergirl, Isabella, Becky, Aria. Even Miss Birch was causing trouble.

Miss Birch was totally convinced that he copied his homework from someone else. He had a strong feeling that she would do a pop quiz soon enough to test him.
